This feature has been completed and will be released in version 1.4.2.

To execute an automatic search in the Staff Directory web part on page load, simply pass "search" as a parameter in the querystring (e.g. ../SitePages/Home.aspx?search=john).

This is awesome, but can we pass parameters to pre-select a OFFICE or DEPARTMENT to be displayed instead of a search?  This would allow our business units to just give a link to the Staff Directory page with their OFFICE or DEPARTMENT and have all current users displayed.

    Dale,

That is not currently possible, but it's a great idea!

I've reopened this feature request so we can look at adding this feature to an upcoming version.

The search via querystring feature has been improved to also allow the web part to be used in SharePoint's people search center by default.

Regarding filtering by office or department by default, see http://support.vinewave.com/entries/21820957-Predefined-filter

Can we improve this to open up a specific user's profile summary? ie.. I want to tell my team about a new person so I will email them a link that goes directly to the webpart, filters on them specifically, and opens up their vinewave profile summary page (not the sharepoint my site profile page).

    thanks
